Aug 26th: Braves v Mets Game Summary…

The Braves lose to the Mets 3-2 Tuesday night in a game that didn’t seem that close. Alex Wood (9-10) takes the loss after laboring through 7 innings, going deep into the count seemingly against half the batters he faced. He gave up 3 ER on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. His pitch count on the night was 114.

The offense managed 6 hits against Mets’ starter Dillon Gee (5-6) in 6.2 IP, but hurt themselves with double plays. Chris Johnson grounded into two double plays, Evan Gattis grounded into another, and Gattis was also doubled off of first base on a Tommy La Stella liner.

In a bit of good news for some in the Braves’ audience, the Braves scored both of their runs with 2 outs and were .400 (2/5) on the night with RISP. Justin Upton continued his stalking of the NL MVP award, going 3/3 with a run scored, an RBI, and a walk, reaching base in all 4 plate appearances.

Tomorrow, the Braves start their young phenom Julio Teheran, while the Mets counter with the talented youngster Zack Wheeler. Wheeler is an above average strikeout pitcher, and the Braves have been a free swinging team for a couple of years. The Braves, however, could find some success with taking a lot of pitches, as Wheeler has been susceptible to walks (3.83/9) in his short career.
