Placed AA Mississippi 2B Travis Demeritte on the 7-day DL

An undisclosed injury interrupts Demeritte’s AA debut, which has been disappointing in most ways. The .216/.295/.398 line has been atrocious, and he’s gone from being a sneaky good base stealer (20 for 24 last year) to a wholly inefficient one (5 for 12). A .269 BABIP isn’t helping him on the luck side of things, and he did have a 2 HR game just before hitting the DL, so perhaps Demeritte’s offense is on the upswing. If so, he wouldn’t be the first guy to struggle for a bit at AA before eventually coming around.

Well, that didn’t last long. Hyssong, Davidson, Conyers, and Borkovich all just switched places twice in a span of a few days. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Recalled SS Dansby Swanson from AAA Gwinnett

If you saw Camargo’s injury on Tuesday, you probably expected worse than a bone bruise. Still, it’s disappointing to see Camargo hit the shelf. While his .292/.327/.454 line is likely misleading (.364 BABIP), he has been valuable for the Braves so far. The offense may be pretty unsustainable, but his stellar play at 3B has been a revelation to a team that willingly started Adonis Garcia, and to a less embarrassing extent, Freddie Freeman, at the hot corner. His SS defense was nearly as bad as his 3B defense was good, but the team could have (and has) done worse at third.

Swanson will try to get his bat going, but he immediately provides a defensive upgrade at SS for Braves pitchers. As for the bat, he’s working through the same issues as when he was sent down. Swanson has the makeup to handle the issues, but fans may not have the patience.

When we talk about organizational filler, this is what it refers to: a guy who gets promoted despite a .173/.246/.173 line in just 57 plate appearances. Sometimes, you just need a warm body.
